An informal celebration of getting organised. Make a short list of achievable tasks, check important steps and enjoy the progress. This is not a US federal holiday.
Celebrated on the last Friday of October, this conservation day puts lemurs and Madagascar in the spotlight. Explore the organiser’s educational resources and ways to support conservation.
Public holiday and observance feeds update automatically, alongside our selected explainers. This is not an exhaustive holiday list. “National day” and “awareness day” do not automatically mean a day off. Illustrations are AI-generated and symbolic; they are not photographs of actual events.
“What is today?” can mean the date, the weekday or a celebration. Start with the date panel, then explore the special-day cards. A single date can include a festival in one country, an international awareness campaign and an informal celebration somewhere else.
Use the regional filter to narrow your view. Each card identifies its type and links to the source used for the entry. A day described as “global” can be recognised in different places without being a legal holiday everywhere.
Public holidays depend on your country, state and institution. A conservation day or an informal national day usually does not establish that banks, schools or offices are closed. Check the relevant government calendar and the institution’s own notice before changing your plans.
US federal holiday entries here follow the Office of Personnel Management’s 2026 schedule, including its observed dates. India’s holiday entries follow India Post’s 2026 all-India list. These reviewed entries form a fallback. The connected holiday feeds supply additional years automatically; we do not project a lunar festival onto the same Gregorian date next year.
Dates change at local midnight. Someone in India and someone in California can therefore be on different calendar dates at the same instant. The time-zone selector changes which local date counts as “Today”; the country filter changes which events you see. They are separate controls.
The live date uses your device’s clock. Date navigation uses calendar dates so travelling across daylight-saving changes does not skip a day. If a page remains open overnight, its live view refreshes when the selected time zone reaches a new day.
Check the date above and browse the event cards. Use the region selector for India, the United States or global observances. Some national days are informal celebrations, not official holidays.
Yes. The page checks public Google Calendar holiday feeds for India and the United States and Wikipedia’s date-based observances. It refreshes source data as you browse, reusing results for up to six hours. Saved entries remain available if a source cannot be reached. You do not need to upload a new website file to receive new entries from these feeds.
Yes. Use the date buttons, the seven-day strip or the date picker. The date picker supports a rolling range through five years ahead. Year-specific festivals and holidays appear for the dates supplied by their calendar feed; future coverage depends on that source.
Our feeds and saved selection do not cover every event. An empty result means no matching entry was found in the available data, not that nothing is celebrated anywhere. Try all regions and check the calendar update status.
No. Many festivals follow lunar or other calendars. The live holiday feeds supply year-specific dates, rather than repeating last year’s Gregorian date. Regional traditions and moon-sighting may still affect local dates.
Saved editorial selection reviewed . Connected calendar data refreshes automatically; its latest check appears above. Individual sources are linked inside each card. Wikipedia listings are community-maintained and are not official public-holiday declarations.
Informal observances are labelled and may use specialist calendar sources. This page does not claim every celebration is officially recognised. To report a date or source correction, contact Deshwise.
